POP!!

My belly has been growing steadily over the last couple of months, but seems like over the last week it has really poped out. In this photo I'm holding the dress down to accentuate the bump... I just love having a belly and am really enjoying being pregnant! It is a wonderful privilege, I praise the Lord daily for this blessing!

:: The maple donuts ::

Here are the famous maple donuts. There are fakes out there, so if you head out to the Highlands make sure you get the real deal. These are the lovely donut people making the donuts, who with their sweetness convinced us all that we had to try their donuts... even though we had already bought the 'fakes' 5 minutes ago. (the fake ones we're a 10th of the size, heavy, and covered in too much sugar...) We were very glad for their persuasion. They were the most delicious maple donuts ever.

The Maple Festival

This weekend Matthew and I traveled over the mountain to Highland county, in order to celerbrate the Maple Festival. Matthew has been going since he was a little boy, and this year it was my second time! The Maple Festival is not complete with out friends and family, as you can see we had a little convoy of our own. One of the high lights is the pancake breakfast served with the local maple syrup. We had to wait in line for quite a while but was well worth the wait. Delicious pancakes!!
We visited one of the maple farms, and got to see first hand how the syrup is actually made. The buckets here are collecting the sap. They have to boil down 500 gallons of sap just to produce 10 gallons of syrup!! These trees sure do work hard, and for a long time too... We saw a tree that has been producing sap for the last 300 years, and has only stopped in the last couple of years!
Lots of crafters come out to sell their goods. We saw a lot of unique ideas, and enjoyed browsing through all the local creativity.

A musical treat

Just last night we were treated to a celtic concert! It was such fun to go out and enjoy some really great music. The band performing was Solas, a very talented group indeed. Made me wish I was at an Irish wedding, dancing and prancing around. The baby seemed to enjoy it as well, squirming, jumping and dancing around inside my belly.

New plants!

I have been meaning to put some new plants up for a while now. (The old ones died, from the cold I think?) This last week I finally had the motivation, and time to pick out some new ones. Seeing the results, I wish I had done it sooner... it makes such a difference in the kitchen! Brings the room to life.

Being a designer...

This cartoon, 8 types of badcreative critics, discribes so well the sort of people I get to work with on a weekly basis. I woudn't normally post things I find on the net, but this was too perfect. I'm sure anyone who has ever had to create something for another person can relate, hope you have a laugh:)
